This incident has prompted me to e-mail the Welsh Minister for the Environment, Energy and Rural Affairs( Leslie Griffiths) once again !! It's almost 3 years since she finally acknowledged, after several previous river pollution incidents and media coverage, that Agricultural Pollution was a continuing issue while the industry continued to ignore the voluntary guidelines on slurry storage and spreading. She therefore announced that she would introduce Regulation on Slurry Storage and Spreading but gave the farming industry time to adjust by having a 12 month 'consultation' period. This 'consultation' period ended in the Autumn of 2019. In January this year I e-mailed her again to question why no regulations had been introduced to date. Her reply began with the usual ' I take this matter very seriously' and she continued by saying that she was currently working with the agricultural industry i.e. Farming Unions, to reach an agreement( Good luck with that !!). I look forward to her reply to my current e-mail.
