I've been reliably informed of some serious poaching being currently investigated on the River Tywi above the village of Rhandirmwyn. The offences are alleged to have taken place within the confines of the Hydro Electric Construction Site where no public access is currently permitted and where work on the project continues. The section of river where the offences are alleged to have taken place is near some old disused fish traps below Llyn Brianne. Apparently, some photos, showing a very large number of dead Salmon and Sea Trout with evidence of gaff wounds, have been circulating around the area and were seen by a local farmer who then informed the police who in turn informed NRW. The total number of fish taken is alleged to be in three figures with some very big fish included in the total. The company undertaking the construction of the Hydro employs mostly, if not all, German and Czech workers. Also, a little further downstream at The Junction Pool, where the Doethie runs into the Tywi, people wearing Hi-Viz jackets have been spotted 'fishing'
